Frequently asked questions
Is the YouTube Transcript Generator free?
Yes. It’s free to use and you don’t need an account.
Why does it say no transcript is available?
The tool can only fetch captions that exist on YouTube, either uploaded by the creator or auto-generated. Some videos have captions turned off, and private, members-only or age-restricted videos can’t be read.
Can I get a transcript in another language?
If the video has captions in more than one language, choose the language from the drop-down menu after the transcript loads.
How accurate are the transcripts?
Captions uploaded by the creator are usually accurate. Auto-generated captions can contain mistakes, especially with names, accents or technical terms, so check important quotes against the video.
Can I reuse the transcript on my website?
The words still belong to the video’s creator. Use transcripts for notes, research and quoting short extracts with credit, and ask the creator before republishing a full transcript.
