How to watermark a PDF
- Choose your PDF.
- Type your watermark text, or switch to Image / logo and choose a PNG or JPG.
- Adjust the opacity, angle and position (centre, tiled, top or bottom).
- Click Add watermark.
Tips
- 20–30% opacity keeps the page readable.
- Tiled watermarks are harder to crop out of screenshots.
- Logos look best as a PNG with a transparent background.
Frequently asked questions
Can a watermark be removed?
This tool adds the watermark on top of the page. Someone with editing software could remove it, so for sensitive files combine it with Password Protect PDF.
Can I watermark only some pages?
Yes. Enter pages such as 1-3, 5 in the Pages box.
Which characters can I use?
Standard letters, numbers and common symbols such as £ and €.
