The rel="sponsored nofollow" attribute tells Google the link is paid, which keeps you within its guidelines. If you use WordPress, a redirect plugin can manage /go/ links without editing server files. Always disclose affiliate links clearly.
How to use the affiliate link generator
- Paste your affiliate URL and enter the product name.
- Choose your link text and whether you want a text link or a button.
- Copy the HTML into your post.
- Add the redirect rule to your server, or use a WordPress redirect plugin, so your /go/ link works.
Why use tidy affiliate links?
- Trust: yoursite.com/go/product looks cleaner than a long tracking URL.
- Easy updates: if a programme changes, update one redirect instead of every post.
- SEO-safe: rel=”sponsored nofollow” tells Google the link is paid, as its guidelines require.
- Still disclose: tidy links don’t replace a clear “Ad” or affiliate disclosure.
Frequently asked questions
Is link cloaking allowed?
Redirecting through your own domain is common, but check each programme’s terms. Some, including Amazon Associates, have specific rules about how links are shown.
Should I use a 301 or 302 redirect?
A 302 (temporary) redirect is usually best for affiliate links, because the destination may change.
Do I still need a disclosure?
Yes. In the UK, affiliate content must be clearly labelled as advertising.
